Unless you upgrade to the absolutely latest OS version. deb file install attempt say "cannot install on your version of Linux, 'best thing since sliced bread' requires blah-blah.so.5000.750 and you only have blah-blah.so.4000.100 dependency cannot be met, see ya and I wouldn't wanna be ya" - dude, you're not gonna get that installed. Now I'm a 'Linux newbie' that has learned some stuff. I am also seeing this problem being mentioned now by Mac OS users who use an older version of Mac OSX - hardly surprising, as Mac basically started using the Linux Kernel as their base (modded a bit IIRC?) with their own 'propietary' DE (Desktop Environment) on top of it that runs all the programs and is what the user is seeing. They complain about it, and then you don't see them again on another comment about that. They can unarchive it, but the official version of Waterfox won't run. They are still unable to get Waterfox to run on their (still-in-support) version of Linux. There have even been a growing number of comments made by people running an older version of their distro that is still supported, and will be for at least another year or so, having this same problem. But I noticed something else when I have been commenting about this problem. The developers may be saying "Ya, this dude just isn't updating, why go to all the trouble right? What's one dude if we lose him to another browser right?" Now when I state that I am using an older version of my distro, everyone just says "Update your distro" "Hey dude, it's bad to be running an older distro anyway, just update the distro and this problem will all go away", etc. Also, on my system, the waterfox or waterfox-classic or waterfox-current or waterfox-bin program, all programs which are supposed to fall under the file classification "executable" do not fall under this, they show as "shared library". You can click on it until the left mouse button breaks, just won't start up. I have been commenting on this for, well, every release of Waterfox Classic and/or Current since I started using it.
